Looking back on 2024, Hong Kong Will Legend has promoted a number of The Country’s Joint Operation, including “Let the Glacier Cool – the Country’s First Joint Glacier Protection Operation”, “Urban Wildlife Corridor – the Country’s First Joint Land Protection Operation “, “Let the Ocean Breathe – the Country’s First Joint Ocean Protection Operation”. The establishment of the first “Third Pole Hong Kong Glacier Landmark” and the “Third Pole Hong Kong Glacier Museum” on the Dagu Glacier in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau has enabled four Hong Kong schools to set foot on the 4860 Dagu Glacier, the first Hong Kong and Sichuan “Sister School Scheme”; Attended 2024 The Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Education Expo shared Education for Sustainable Development Activity with about 32 secondary schools, 59 primary schools and 49 kindergartens and kindergartens; Published about 150 articles in Hong Kong and the Mainland of China; A year has passed, the number of followers in Hong Kong has exceeded 2,100 people.

COP16 of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 2 to 13 December 2024. Up to 40 per cent of the world’s land is degraded, affecting half of humanity and with dire consequences for our climate, biodiversity and livelihoods. Will Legend uses Glacier, Land, and Ocean to build a vital line of defense against climate change, restore land and boost drought resilience, contribute to climate and biodiversity targets, close the food gap, and promote human health and wellbeing. Gentle, hard-working bees connect sustainable cities and communities. “Urban” refers to people (human activities, buildings), “Wildlife” refers to nature (land, forests, and terrestrial organisms), and “Corridor” refers to the “Bridge of Life” that connects people and nature. Nearly 90% of the world’s wild flowering plant species rely entirely or to some extent on animal pollination, and pollination is equally important for more than 75% of the world’s food crops and 35% of agricultural land. The “Urban Wildlife Corridor” Conservation and Education Programme belongs to the “Land” under “Green-blueprint”. Will Legend educates and promotes the protection of land to ensure food security in society and communities; promotes the use of flowering plants to nurture bees (pollinating insects) to achieve the UN SDGs such as forest regeneration, combating desertification, and biodiversity. Every Second Breath of Oxygen We Take Comes from the Ocean

Peter Thomson, UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for the Ocean said that making good use of the ocean and controlling human carbon emissions is a topic worthy of discussion by marine scientists (China.org.cn, 2024) ; “In so saying I reiterated the fact that every second breath of oxygen we take comes from the Ocean” (UN News, 2024)

“Let the Ocean Breathe” absorbs heat, and carbon dioxide, plays an important role in mitigating the impact of climate change, the ocean also produces at least 50% of the Earth’s oxygen.“Let the Ocean Breathe” belongs to the “Ocean” under “Green-blueprint”. Will Legend and Guangdong Nanpeng Islands National Marine Nature Reserve Administration Management Bureau use the South China Sea as the starting point, jointly promote the “Let the Ocean Breathe” programme, and launch “South China Sea – 350 The Blue Ocean Journey” SDG14 Research Trip and Educational Tour, promote avoid overfishing, and reduce ocean pollution. There are as many as 1,308 species of marine life distributed in the reserve, it is also a migratory and habitat area for many rare, and protected aquatic wildlife such as Chinese white dolphins, finless porpoises, and corals. The 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) focuses on green financing, reducing greenhouse gas emissions to tackle climate change.  “Green-blueprint Initiative” Climate Change and Glacier, Land, Ocean Journey,  advocates for reducing carbon emissions to protect lives, and livelihoods from the worsening impacts of climate change, contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the 1.5 Climate Goal. In the summer of 2023, the founder of the “Let the Glacier Cool” programme was still silently meditating on how to find another element of the source of life on top of the established Land (Food) and Ocean (Air) programmes to truly realize human prosperity, peace and sustainable development now and in the future. He suddenly wondered, if there is a lack of clean water, how can the creatures on land and in the sea survive? It was against this background that the “Let the Glacier Cool” Conservation and Education Programme begin to emerge.

Through the “Let the Glacier Cool” Conservation and Education Programme, Will Legend connecting the Northwest Institute of Ecological and Environmental Resources of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Dagu Glacier Management Bureau jointly launched the country’s first joint glacier protection operation and established the first “Third Pole Hong Kong Glacier Landmark” and the “Third Pole Hong Kong Glacier Museum” on the Dagu Glacier in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, advocating faster reduction of carbon emissions and greenhouse gas emissions, leading the people of Hong Kong and China to jointly cool the earth and slow down the melting rate of glaciers. As the initiator of the “Let Glacier Cool” Programme, Will Legend took the lead in injecting start-up funds into the “Glacier Scientific Research and Talent Training Project” of the Northwest Institute of Ecological Environmental Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences, to train scientific research talents and promote the sustainable development of glacier ecology. Ultimately, we can secure a peaceful, livable future for everyone on Earth. Through “Let the Glacier Cool”, Will Legend organizes SDG&STEAM™ Educational Tour and ESG&ClimateAction™ Corporate and Organization Research Trip, leading the public to visit Dagu Glacier in Sichuan and No. 1 Glacier in Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang in a popular way. Glaciers cover about 11% of the Earth’s land area and contain about 70% of the world’s fresh water resources. They play an important role in regulating the Earth’s temperature, global heat balance and water balance. Will Legend will continue to promote sustainable development under the framework of the “Green-blueprint”, support the United Nations’ International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation in 2025 and World Glacier Day on March 21 every year thereafter, and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and climate action. UN Chief Hails Success in Poverty Alleviation, Will Legend Rural Revitalization Contributes People’s Sharing Economic Achievements  General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that “Comprehensive promotion of rural revitalization is an important task in building a powerful agricultural country in the new era.” All 832 impoverished counties across the country have been lifted out of poverty. Nearly 100 million rural poor people have been lifted out of poverty. More than 9.6 million poor people have been relocated. This historic achievement has solved the problem of absolute poverty, and consolidated the results of poverty alleviation. It has made a major contribution to the cause of world poverty reduction. Our country has vigorously promoted rural revitalization in recent years, and encouraged local people, including ethnic minorities, to form an economic and industrial chain through the construction of green agriculture, ecological construction, and cultural tourism. In every “Green-blueprint” Glacier, Land and Ocean tour, participants will support local businesses, people and ethnic minorities, including accommodations, local products, local farm produce, and guided tour services. By visiting remote villages in mountainous areas, even older residents can earn income by providing hospitality and dance performances, achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals SDG8 – Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all. Will Legend “Sharing Economic Achievements SDG8™ Story of Xiaokang” aims to help local people to increase exposure, and attention by sharing the development stories of each place, attract more people from Mainland of China, and Hong Kong to visit, and inject sustainability into the local economy. At the same time, the public should be more aware of the importance of a decent job, income, and building a moderately prosperous society (Xiaokang society) to the people in developing areas. The 75th anniversary of the National Day Leading Over 2,000 Times Growth, Will Legend “Greenhouse Cooling Patch SDG7™” Recognition Encourages Green Energy

In celebrating the 75th National Day, it also means that our country’s power generation capacity continues to rank first in the world. In 1949, the annual power generation was only 4.3 billion kilowatt hours. Today, the figure has reached 9.5 trillion kWh*. What’s even more amazing is that renewable energy already accounts for one-third of society’s electricity consumption. As the largest country in photovoltaic power generation, and wind power installed capacity, the country’s development of green energy is an important measure to deal with global warming and climate change. “Greenhouse Cooling Patch SDG7™ Recognition” aims to commend relevant corporates/enterprises, and organizations/institutions that are committed to the development of green energy (hydropower, wind power, solar power generation). At the same time, enterprises and organizations that implement green transformation (green transition) will also be commended. The “Green-blueprint Initiative” (GBI) supports the implementation of the Paris Agreement on climate change, and the Convention on Biological Diversity, promotes green transformation, enables the world to reduce carbon emissions faster, and moves towards the “3060” Dual Carbon Targets, and a livable life, practices the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals SDG7 ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. Will Legend Education for Sustainable Development Activity (ESD Activity) 

Education for Sustainable Development Activity (ESD Activity) sets out the urgent challenges facing the planet and underlines the implementation of the Education for Sustainable Development: Towards achieving the SDGs (2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development), Climate Goal, and Social-philanthropy frameworks, which aims to increase education’s role in building a more just and sustainable world. “Green-blueprint Initiative” transforms support from the green economy into social resources to support schools, principals and teachers in carrying out ESD works. Through the effective implementation of ESD Activity, students can be united to take actions to respond to climate change, achieve sustainable development goals, and jointly respond to the pressing global challenges of the 21st century. Will Legend is glad to witness the establishment of relationship between S.K.H Yan Laap Memorial Primary School and Deyang Tianli School in Sichuan under the “Sister School Scheme”. As an extension of the “Let the Glacier Cool” ESD Activity of Will Legend, this SDG&STEAM™ Educational Tour embodies the commitment to Quality Education (SDG4) in the “Green-blueprint Initiative” to promote cross-cultural understanding and friendship. Teachers and students experienced the impact of global warming first-hand through the “Climate Change & Dagu Glacier” Journey. This is consistent with Will Legend’s goal of protecting glacial water resources and echoes the UN SDG6 (Clean Water). They also experienced local culture and special courses, such as archery, music and pottery, which enhanced mutual understanding between students from both places. Will Legend hopes to enhance students’ sense of national identity and promote the common development of education in Hong Kong and the Mainland of China. Similarly, companies and organizations that focus on KPIs as measurement criteria may not fully understand that “Education and Promotion” are more important than a bunch of numerical performance. But for us, if we can inspire the public’s awareness and integrate the public into nature in a popular way, in the future, human beings can truly realize a green (eco) living.
