Uncover 20-degree Hot Summer Snow-capped Mountains, Lakes and Forests, Become a Glacier Scientist to Tackle Climate Change, Let the Glacier Cool

Dagu Glacier is located on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It is a glacier that can be explored in spring, summer, autumn and winter. Hong Kong Will Legend joins hands with teachers and students in Hong Kong to practice “Sustainable Development Education”, bravely travel to an altitude of 4860 meters to collect new snow, cover glaciers with “Greenhouse Cooling Patch”, and learn about the cryosphere; Uncover the rich biodiversity at mid- and low-altitudes; Connect ethnic minorities promotes ethnic integration, cultural exchanges, and love for nation; Accompanied by blooming flowers, meadows and wild creatures, experience the “Third Pole Journey of the Soul” and practice the harmonious symbiosis between humans and nature.

Practice Cultural Exchanges and Ethnic Integration

The Hong Kong Educational Tours (Study Tours) connect Tibetan and Qiang ethnic minorities to promote ethnic integration, cultural exchanges and love for nation. Walk into the Qiang Nationality Museum and the Hóng Jūn Qiáo, and listen to the lively tour guide… Walk into the Tibetan villages, travel among the antique Tibetan watchtowers, the Three Harmonies Pagoda and the prayer wheel, and learn to make horse tea and Qing Kueh cakes… Bonfire at the party, people hold hands regardless of ethnic groups and integrate each other with singing and dancing. Dagu Glacier is located in Heishui County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan. It is a settlement of Tibetan and Qiang people and has unique folk customs. In 2008, Qiang polyphonic folk songs were approved by the State Council to be included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage lists. Walk into the Heart of Nature and Let Your Soul Bathe in the Forest图片图片图片图片

Forest is a place where you can cleanse your soul and find the real relationship between humans and nature – harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.

Vast forests cover different altitudes and latitudes. In summer, when you stand in the mountains and forests, you will be greeted by the cool breeze of 20°C. The flowery (lavender, sunflower, etc.) blooming on the meadow attract the visit of Willy Bee (little bees), and they work together to draw an “Urban Wildlife Corridor” under the glacier and snow-capped mountains. Willy Bee and Flowery present the “Land” part of the “Green Blueprint” – that is, protecting the land and forests, and connecting cities and forests (nature) with bees and flowering plants. Flowering plants are used to nurture bees and other pollinating insects, and then these industrious bees shuttle between forests and green corridors, spreading the seeds of life to the pure land. On the one hand, they improve the quantity and quality of agricultural production, maintain a livable climate, and ensure human survival; on the other hand, forest regeneration supports biodiversity and promotes the sustainable development goals of humans and nature. Forests play a very important role for people and the environment. They can maintain pure soil, conserve water sources, and purify the air (release oxygen). Forests also make a great contribution to overall carbon reduction (absorbing greenhouse gas carbon dioxide). In addition, they help deal with greenhouse gases. It can be said to be human beings’ natural“Greenhouse Cooling Patch”. By protecting “Urban Wildlife Corridor” to increase forest coverage, we can effectively tackle climate change and maintain biodiversity.

Glaciers Nurture Bright Pearls in Snowy Mountains

Dagu Glacier presents the “Glacier” part of the “Green Blueprint” – human survival is inseparable from fresh water. The Tibetans and Qiang people living on the “Roof of the World” understand the preciousness of pure water. It has a snow-covered period of up to 10 months every year, and the mountain tops are covered with snow all year round. Dagu Glacier is 4,860 meters above sea level and has 13 modern glaciers with a glacial area of 6.04 square kilometers. It is the glacier closest to the city. “Holy Glacier · Colorful Heishui” – The melted glacier water formed “Sea” (lakes). The lake water is clear and pure. Through the stretching streams, it nourishes the Earth to form wetlands and meadows, and builds a sea of flowers, oasis and forest for the Earth, paints out the colors of nature. Glaciers stabilize the Earth’s temperature and fresh water resources, but when faced with the enemy of climate change, they become very helpless and vulnerable. Greenhouse gases affect global warming and accelerate the melting of glaciers and glacier water on the Tibetan Plateau. Eventually, lake water levels rise, inundating grasslands and villages. Another situation is that glaciers disappear due to excessive melting, and lakes and oases will also become dry places. The livestock and residents who originally relied on them will no longer be able to survive. Hong Kong Will Legend has joined forces with the Dagu Glacier Management Bureau and the Northwest Institute of Eco-Environmental Resources of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to further strengthen scientific research on glacier protection through the “Let the Glacier Cool” Conservation and Education programme, and use glacier study tours as education and promotion. Promote public protection of glaciers and glacier water resources. Build a Cradle of Ecosystem, Nurture Biodiversity

The “Third Pole 4860” educational tour presents a rich ecology. Due to the special topography and climate conditions, rich animal and plant resources have been nurtured. From giant pandas, snow leopards, Tibetan emirates, golden monkeys, antelopes, argali, red pandas and other nationally protected animals can have a chance to be seen. Safeguard the last piece of pure land on Earth, let the glacier cool, let the ocean breathe, run through the pulse to wildlife corridor, draw a “Green-blueprint”, build a cradle of ecosystem, nurture biodiversity, make human health and prosperity sustainable. Hong Kong Will Legend protects glaciers and water resources, food and biodiversity, marine ecology and clean air through the Glacier, Land and Ocean Programmes respectively. Regarding biodiversity, it is easier for the public to understand that there are many types of plants and animals, and a large number of microorganisms are included. But it turns out that real biodiversity also includes ecosystems such as glaciers, rivers, forests, lakes, deserts, grasslands and oceans. To put it simply, all species on the Earth are interconnected. Each ecosystem has different connections, interactions and influences, and in the end, a beautiful Earth can be achieved. Biological diversity resources are the pillars upon which we build civilizations. Fish provide 20% of animal protein to about 3 billion people; Over 80% of the human diet is provided by plants; As many as 80% of people living in rural areas in developing countries rely on traditional plant‐based medicines for basic healthcare. The United Nations established the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (also known as the Biodiversity Plan) with the purpose of promoting the belief of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. It is hoped that different countries, organizations, and sectors can support the implementation of diversity in their own ways. Become a “Green-blueprint Initiative” Glacier Guardian

“Let the glacier cool and create a livable climate, The Third Pole 4860” popular science exploration tours, we will go deep into the Dagu Glacier on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Under the guidance of glacier tour ambassadors and educational teachers, we will learn about the impact of greenhouse gases and climate change on the rate of ablation. It is hoped that participants can convey the knowledge to the public from the social and community levels to protect the Third Pole, Antarctic and Arctic glaciers, and protect the clean water sources that humans and other creatures rely on for survival.

Absorbing the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, adopting green energy to address climate change, and achieve long-term solutions through glacier, land and ocean conservation and education programmes are vital to humans and ecosystems.
