The first joint operation in the country that brings together national glacier management authorities, scientific research institutions and Hong Kong green enterprises – “Let the Glacier Cool” protects glaciers and glacial (fresh) water resources.

With the strong support of Professor Wang Feiteng, director of Tianshan Glaciological Station (Tianshan Glacier Observation and Research Station) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, on December 27, 2023, Dagu Glacier Management Bureau and Will Legend held an exchange meeting on “Let the Glacier Cool”. After the meeting, the authority organized a ceremony to unveil the “Third Pole Hong Kong Glacier Museum” and present the “Third Pole Hong Kong Glacier Landmark”, representing an in-depth cooperation between the people of Hong Kong and Mainland of China to jointly carry out the country’s first joint glacier protection operation. “Let the Glacier Cool” joint conservation and education action has received support from Tianshan Glacier Observation and Research Station of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Dagu Glacier Scenic Area Management Bureau. Together with teachers and students from Hong Kong to embark on Dagu Glacier in Sichuan and Tianshan Glacier No.1 in Xinjiang, explores “Environment and Sustainable Living, Green Living and the Geographical Development of the Country”, supports The United Nations (UN) 2025 International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation, World Day of Glaciers on March 21 every year thereafter, and practices the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals SDG4 Quality Education and SDG13 Climate Action. Will Legend Promotes Responses to Climate Change, Protects the Third Pole, Antarctica and the North Pole

Will Legend contributes to strengthen the global response to the threat of climate change, cool the Earth, let the glaciers cool. Glaciers nurture precious freshwater resources and stabilize the Earth’s temperature. However, when facing the old enemy of climate change, glaciers have become very helpless and fragile. Greenhouse gases affect global warming and will eventually cause the glaciers of the Tibetan Plateau, Antarctica and the North Pole to disappear due to excessive ablation.

Will Legend advocates clean energy as “Greenhouse Cooling Patch”, joining forces with land and ocean to “Let the Glacier Cool”, practicing the United Nations sustainable development goal SDG7. We are experiencing unprecedented rapid climate warming because of human activities, such as the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide produced by burning fossil fuels. New energy can effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Will Legend supports the “Belt and Road Initiative” green energy industry to cooperate with especially developing countries, to carry out solar, wind and hydropower projects with digital intelligent management to increase the proportion of renewable energy power generation. Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. Will Legend SDG&STEAM™ Educational Tours, ESG&ClimateAction™ Research Trips, Practice the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals SDG8

Through ecological and cultural tourism, an effective economic industry chain will be formed to promote economic sharing. In every “Green-blueprint” Glacier, Land and Ocean tour, participants will support local businesses, people and ethnic minorities, including accommodations, food, local products and guided tour services. By visiting remote villages in mountainous areas, even older residents can earn income by providing hospitality and dance performances, achieving shared economic achievements and rural revitalization, allowing local people to obtain decent work and economic growth.
“Let the Glacier Cool” Contributes Education for Sustainable Development Activities for Schools

For Will Legend, the school’s education sustainable development (ESD) activities are based on the school’s regular teaching, through environmental protection and charity activities, to promote the integration of humans, society, economy and nature at the social and community levels, and to help achieve the United Nations’ 2030 sustainable development goals. Through glacier, land and ocean conservation and education programs to tackle climate change; Through community support scheme to promote lasting peace in society, and inclusive communities. Children are the “Seeds” leading to a Green (Eco) Living in the future and also the hope for leading to the future of mankind. Will Legend believes that education is a crucial step in breaking the cycle of poverty and inequality. Education also brings significant economic returns to a country and contributes to a lasting peace and sustainable development. Will Legend SDG&STEAM™ Educational Tours together with teachers and students to explore the country’s history, promote ethnic integration, learn “Life and Environment”, harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, practices the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal SDG4 (Quality Education). Spread Your Wings and Chase Your Dreams – Hong Kong Parents, Teachers and Students Set Foot on the Earth’s Third Pole

Will Legend first SDG&STEAM™ Educational Tour with the theme of “Let the Glacier Cool” Conservation and Education Programme, Hong Kong parents, teachers and students bravely ventured into the glaciers at the Earth’s Third Pole on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, embarked on the Dagu Glacier at an altitude of 4860 meters, walked on the glaciers and explored the ice caves, learnt about the cryosphere and became a glacier guardian! They walked through forests, saw glacial lakes, admired wild animals, painted colorful rocks, and held the hands of ethnic minorities to jointly implement the “Green-blueprint Initiative”.
